This Kelly Wearstler's House Design Style Will Amaze You

Kelly Wearstler is an American designer who is known for her sophisticated style and always-pushing boundaries. Kelly Wearstler is known for her cool style in everything she chooses from wallpapers to even homeware and lighting. Her trademark is a mix of luxe and casual, sophisticates and raw and vintage and modern. By mixing those, you will get “the look” of Kelly Wearstler. Wearstler designed hotels, restaurants, homes and commercial interiors. Yet, her favorite thing to do is the design of small houses. And while we know that the best inspiration you can get is from small houses design, real homes and real projects and not from hotels and museums, we are sharing with you one amazing house design.

    1. The house theme

This house is located above Malibu beach’s incoming tide. The design of the house is a new wave in the designer’s style. The color palette used is of sun-bleached colors. It is calm yet complex. We are talking here about shades of driftwood taupe, mist gray, watery green and shell pink. The house has a castaway and exotic allure

    1. The sitting room

Wearstler considers the sounds are part of the décor. She encourages families to keep the living room door open to hear the ocean which is as soothing and relaxing as the colors used. Dolphins and seals pass regularly by this house. The whole ambiance creates like a piece of paradise.

When it comes to décor, the living room is decorated by vintage pieces and black chairs. It is centered by a sculpture of Wearstler on the coffee table. This piece is from her collection for Bergdorf Goodman. The left wall is decorated by a contemporary art piece from Mark Hagen.

    3. The panoramic seascape view.

The panoramic seascape view is extended from floor to ceiling windows. It is an inspiration for the designer for home objects that one can find on the beach. Sea fans will be amazed by hanging Sheila hicks hanged on the walls, a sculpture in the form of nautilus shell and stools of petrified wood.

    4. The living room

At the center of the residence comes a huge living room with vast skylight. The focus goes to the tree that is planted at the center.  It is planted in the center of the room. It creates a transition between the inside and the outside. Wave patterned marble walls which accentuate the designer’s taste gives a the feeling of the abstract art. However, modern furniture contradicts this spirit. All this give a raw result.

    5. The bedroom.

Wearstler believes the home must be organic to its nature. If it is by the beach, everything must feel like it is coming from the beach.

The bedroom has neutral textile like the rest of the house. It has the same tone and texture of the sand surrounding the house. The artwork in the bedroom is the work of Aubrey Penny.

As most of Wearstler’s designs, the house is filled with vintage pieces from different designers.

“It’s like living on a boat sometimes; when the tide is in, the ocean comes right up underneath the house, and you can feel it move,” that’s how the designer explain the style of this house. “If you look around you will see driftwood and the light fixtures that are reminiscent of seaweed.”
