When furnishing your new home, one important aspect that will add cosines to your house during the winter season is your carpets. They add a sense of heat and warmness incomparable to any other home décor. Therefore, it is really important to know how and what carpet to have for an ideal cold season in your home. In this blog, we will be guiding you in choosing your carpets in an efficient and smart way.
One important feature in rugs is their paddings. People tend to often skip this design aspect and directly jump to the design and visual aspect of the carpet. Even though the padding is unseen, you can definitely feel it under your feet as you step on the carpet. It adds smoothness and comfort and is sure to be comfortable stepping on when walking barefooted in your house. For the living room and the dining room, you will probably need extra paddings since these areas are the most frequented by household residents and guests. For the bedrooms and guest rooms, you can have little padding or none at all, based on your financial situation.
Not all luxurious carpets and nicely designed one are expensive. Go to as many shops as possible and ask about the prices and compare. The carpet industry is very wide and is a world of its own. The material of the carpet, even if having the same design to the eye, can differ and therefore alternate in cost. For busy rooms in your house, ask for anti-stain materials. If you own a dog, ask for a robust and long-lasting material. In this fashion you won’t have to worry every year about the cost of maintenance and replacement.
Rugs come in different shapes and forms and the choice of one design can be hard since there is a wide range of choices that are sure to make you want to buy them. However, no one said that you are obliged to stick with just one type of design in your entire house. Try to have diversity in your choice of colors, design and material to create some sort of diversity for you not to get bored with just one type of color and design laying on all the floors of your home.
Don’t forget about your outdoors! There are many types of outdoor carpets, so you won’t have to worry about having a restricted range of choices. Polypropylene (olefin), Nylon, Polyester, Acrylic… are all types of outdoor carpets. The polypropylene one is the most used worldwide due to its strong resistance against stains and dirt and last a very long time. The advantages of having outdoor carpets are that they are easy to clean and to maintain, have different choice of colors and price ranges and protects your outdoor floor and/or patio against moist. However, the disadvantages of having outdoor carpets are that they must be installed using carpet adhesive or special kind of tape for rugs and they are not very comfortable when steeping on them, especially when barefooted.
One very important type of carpet to have in your house is runners. They are the type of carpet that you will use to fill the hall, the corridor, and especially your stairs. Choose your carpet runner wisely to create some sort of contrast in colors with your tiles and walls. Carpet runners are very important because they increase safety especially when placed to cover the stairs and if you have kids and elderly people frequently in your house.
Indoor-outdoor rugs are a type of carpet that are designed for the outdoors. Whether that’s on a patio, a balcony, a pool deck, or in an outdoor living or dining area. These carpets last a very long time; so, you won’t have to worry about maintenance cost and what so, and they last much longer than the average rug and are built to withstand the elements. Many are mold and mildew-resistant, so you can relax, and care less about what might happen to your rugs in a storm or heavy rain comes down.
