Akhmim is located on the east bank of the nile river,near the town of sohag (upper-egypt).

Ces tissages de belle qualité sont tissés à la main sur de grands métiers en bois. Les tisserands d'Akhmim utilisent uniquement de la fibre naturelle, du coton ou du lin d'Egypte. Ils produisent des couvres-lits, des nappes et serviettes de table, des chemises ...
