A Look at the Kim Kardashian's Latest House

Kim Kardashian house was designed by the Belgian architect Vincent Van Duysen and Axel Vervoordt whom Kanye West, Kim’s husband, encountered at exhibitions of antique fairs in Venice and Maastricht. They all agreed on the importance of silence and the spirituality of art, which is translated into every aspect of this house’s design. 

In an interview, Kim spoke about how she and Kanye encountered the property and decided to purchase it and renovate it. Back in 2013, while walking they passed by this property and Kim was struck by its extravagance but Kanye was way less enthusiastic about it but this eventually ended up by buying it for 20 million dollars which after 7 years is worth around 60 million dollars. 

Even after this period, a lot of people are still inspired by this mansion which gave me the idea to cover some of its aspects and write them in this blog.

The calmness of this house was provided by its off-white paint and its furnishing which was kept to a bare minimum. The couple wanted their house to be different from the complexity of the outside world, by giving a strong impression of silence and peace.

Remarkably this house is designed to be also kid-friendly by providing the couple’s four children an environment in which they can play and have fun. This fact is demonstrated by not separating the kids playing zones (indoor playground) from the social zones which is untraditional. They don’t envision their children as a source of silence disturbance but rather wanted their home to be built around the family and suitable for every member.

Because of its tall, arched, white and almost furniture-free hallways many people on social media viewed this house as an abandoned museum, which is actually true and reflects the minimalist effect of this house, which specially Kanye loves . But in fact this corridor is a perfect spot for photo-shoots caused by the large arched windows that bring in the perfect sunshine creating a pleasing environment.

The simplicity and minimalistic identity of this mansion is specially identified in its living room. Also white painted this minimally furnished room confers a white piano, ivory cotton curtains, a white rounded table and a Jean Royère chair combined with a fibre glass sculpture specially designed by the well-known artist Anish Kapoor.

Instead of painting the kitchen modern design also with white, the West couple decided for cream color. This room is by far the best spot for the family. Because of this fact this kitchen features a round dining table to assemble the family. Accompanied by comfy cushions sits also a plush taupe couch.

As a social media star Kim Kardashian should always keep her fans entertained. One of the most important part of entertainment is of course fashion! Kim doesn’t mind taking her fans into her closet. This large walk – in closet is divided into two sections. The first part is reserved for shoes and handbags. With its taupe colored hardwood floors and white walls (wall painting design), this room is filled with products from Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga. The second part of Kim’s closet is composed of racks with all her clothing placed according to color. This section has also hardwood floors, an ivory velvet couch and of course a mirrored wall rendering its minimalistic effect.

The last spot to mention in this house is its movie room which beside the breakfast table is a special place to assemble the family. It features a big great couch facing a projector to enjoy movie night whenever possible. 

To conclude, this house teaches us a lesson about the importance of choosing the right design, customized according to our taste. Despite some negative feedbacks from fans about this mansion on being boring or museum-like, both Kim Kardashian and Kanye West chose simplicity and peace over being contemporary or mainstream. This should motivate us to tell clearly your house designer about our taste even if it contradicts the public’s opinion.
